Two weeks after being unveiled to lead Zimbabwean powerhouses FC Platinum, Thabo Senong and Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane are still waiting to officially take charge, and FARPost has established the reason why.
Senong was unveiled as FC Platinum coach on 28 July and arrived in Zimbabwe a day later. There has been plenty of anticipation to see the former Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana assistant coach in the dugout, but his debut has been delayed.
Since his arrival in Zimbabwe, FC Platinum have played one league game and a Munhumutapa Challenge Cup tie against Marere FC, which was played on Sunday. They face Scottland FC on Friday, 14 August in a 2026 Chibuku Super Cup first round match at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

FARPost has established that Senong and his assistant Reneilwe Letsholonyane are yet to secure their work permits, despite the club following due process.
While the processing of their permits has stalled, there is hope the duo will be available in the dugout when FC Platinum take on Scottland on Friday, 14 August in a Chibuku Super Cup first-round tie.
Senong replaced Joel Luphahla, who was sacked due to poor results after 25 matches in the 2026 season. Senong has returned to Zimbabwe for another chapter after a botched stint with Highlanders FC earlier this year.
He came to Bulawayo in January ready to start a two-year contract, but his tenure ended before it started. Senong inherits an FC Platinum team that has won four league titles in the last decade. Three of the titles were won under former Chippa United mentor Norman Mapeza.
However, this season has been far from smooth sailing. Senong takes over with FC Platinum languishing in 11th position on the 18-team table, having collected 32 points from 26 matches.
Senong is expected to help them win the remaining eight matches and secure at least a top-eight finish, with hopes of also winning the inaugural Munhumutapa Cup. In addition, he is expected to guide the team in the 2026 Chibuku Super Cup.
