Nasreddine Nabi’s stay at Raja Casablanca could come to a premature end, just two months after the former Kaizer Chiefs coach took charge of the Moroccan giants.
Nabi replaced South African coach Fadlu Davids towards the end of the 2025/26 season and steered Raja to a third-place finish, securing qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Tunisian reportedly turned down approaches from AS FAR and Raja’s fierce rivals, Wydad Casablanca, after being convinced that the club’s sporting vision matched his ambitions.
However, the arrival of a new sporting director ahead of the 2026/27 campaign appears to have changed the picture. The pair have reportedly differed over Raja’s transfer business, with Nabi unhappy about the club’s failure to land some of his preferred targets.
NABI WAS EAGER TO BRING IN SHALULILE AND MASEKO
Two of those were Mamelodi Sundowns attackers Peter Shalulile and Thapelo Maseko. Nabi was eager to bring both players to Casablanca at the start of the transfer window, but Raja did not move quickly enough to conclude either deal. Maseko eventually joined FC Copenhagen in Denmark, while Shalulile signed for Tanzanian champions Young Africans.
Their moves elsewhere left Nabi frustrated. He is understood to believe that Raja’s current squad does not have enough quality to close the gap on their domestic rivals and mount a serious challenge for the Botola Pro title, one of the major reasons he accepted the job.
Raja have nevertheless been active in the market. They have signed left-back Chemseddine Knaidil, midfielders Ishak Zidani, Luis Felipe and Michael Agbekpornu, winger Younes Dahmani and Portuguese centre-back Marian Huja.
The Moroccan giants have also reportedly completed the signing of former Troyes striker Mounaim El Idrissy on a free transfer, although he is yet to be officially unveiled.
Despite those additions, the growing disagreement over recruitment has raised questions about Nabi’s future in Casablanca.
