Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has provided a positive injury update ahead of the Soweto giants’ crucial clash against Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership.
Amakhosi will host Siwelele at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon, looking to return to winning ways after dropping points in their previous league encounter.
Chiefs played to a 2-2 draw against Richards Bay FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium over a week ago. In their clash against the Natal Rich Boys, Chiefs conceded due to costly defensive errors—an area Da Cruz will be desperate to plug ahead of the Siwelele fixture.
As the Glamour Boys aim for an improved performance this weekend, a major boost has emerged from their camp, with several key players closing in on full fitness following injury setbacks.
FERNANDO DA CRUZ REVEALS THAT THABISO MONYANE AND PHILI REMAIN SIDELINED
Speaking on Wednesday morning at the Naturena Village, Da Cruz revealed that players such as Bradley Cross, Paseka Mako, and Kabelo Nkgwesa have recovered from their respective injuries.

Over the past few weeks, Chiefs faced a crisis on the left side of defence after a wave of injuries wiped out all their natural left-backs, forcing winger Pule Mmodi to deputise in the role.
Meanwhile, the French tactician revealed that Thabiso Monyane and Langelihle Phili remain sidelined, confirming the duo will only return to fitness following the September 21 to October 6 FIFA international break.
“Monyane will not be available before the FIFA window because he’s injured for four weeks; Phili is the same thing; he’s injured for eight weeks,” Da Cruz said at the Chiefs training grounds.
“But we have players who came back: Mako, Cross, Kabelo [Nkgwesa] and Reeve Frosler. They are not 100% physically. So they are coming back step by step. With Flavio Silva, he will be ready in one or two weeks.”
