Portsmouth FC head coach John Mousinho has spoken out following the departure of Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux from the English Championship side.
The English second division outfit confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the two parties have parted ways by mutual consent with immediate effect.
“Portsmouth FC can announce a mutual agreement with Luke Le Roux for him to end his contract with the club,” reads the club’s statement.
Le Roux joined Portsmouth from Swedish outfit IFK Värnamo in July 2025. During his time at Pompey, the 26-year-old midfielder made 17 appearances across all competitions.
The midfielder had signed a three-year deal with Portsmouth, continuing his European journey that began when he left the now-defunct SuperSport United for Varbergs BoIS in 2020.
His last official appearance for the club came last month during a Carabao Cup first-round clash against the English Premier League side West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Reflecting on the South African international’s stint, coach John Mousinho praised Le Roux for his professionalism and work ethic throughout his stay.
“Luke has been a pleasure to work with over the past year and never let us down when called upon,” Mousinho told the club’s official website. “Hopefully, he will now be able to find more regular first-team football at a new club, and we all wish him the very best for the future.”
Le Roux has earned nine caps for Bafana, rising through the ranks of the SuperSport United academy before overseas stints with Varbergs and Volendam, before joining IFK Värnamo.
The former Stellenbosch FC player will now be on the lookout for a new club as a free agent to secure consistent game time.
