Former Chippa United defender Ayabulela Konqobe has resurfaced at Betway Premiership newcomers Kruger United, FARPost has learnt.
โAs this publication had reported earlier in June, Konqobe was a surprise departure from the Chilli Boys at the end of last season.
โThe defender-cum-midfielder was a key member of the Chippa squad in the past few seasons, leading the club on and off the pitch as a senior player. He had three stints with the Chilli Boys between 2017 and 2018, followed by a second stint during the 2020/21 campaign.
โKonqobe, who is also a former SA junior international, re-joined Chippa in 2022 and has spent four seasons with the club.
During the 2025/26 season, Konqobe made 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

FARPost has established that the 30-year-old started training with the Mpumalanga side a few days ago. He has reportedly impressed the technical team and could be offered a new deal.

He will join some of the new signings at the Betway Premiership newcomers who were signed at the beginning of the season. This includes Fiacre Ntwari, who signed on loan from Kaizer Chiefs, Thendo Mukumela, Wonderboy Makhubu, Katlego Mohamme, just to name a few.
NEW BETWAY PREMIERSHIP DESPERATE TO GET OUT OF RELEGATION DANGER
Kruger could do with Konqobeโs services after struggling in their defence since the beginning of the new season. The club has conceded 11 goals, the most by any club in the Betway Premiership.
This includes the 4-0 loss at the hands of league champions Orlando Pirates on Tuesday, 1 September. The club has only collected one point, which came during the 0-0 draw against Marumo Gallants, who are also lying in the relegation zone. Their next match will be an Mpumalanga derby against TS Galaxy on Sunday, 13 September.
