Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Marumo Gallants midfielder Bheki Mabuza to further beef up their squad for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Soweto giants announced the arrival of Mabuza on Wednesday morning after reaching an agreement with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa for his signature.
Pirates, under the guidance of coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, are forging ahead with their buying spree in the current transfer window, having welcomed over 10 new players to bolster their squad.
So far, Pirates have signed players such as Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Sbangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato, Neo Rapoo, Matome Mmolai, Ghampani Lungu, Thapelo Mokobodi, Sebastian Pedersen, Mohau Nkota and Aphiwe Baliti, who remained at Siwelele FC on a season-long loan.
The Sea Robbers have taken a robust approach to the transfer market as they aim to defend the Betway Premiership, MTN8, and Carling Knockout Cup titles while also pushing for the CAF Champions League glory.
With the transfer window set to slam shut later this month, Pirates have moved swiftly to add another talent, Mabuza, to their squad. The attacking midfielder is joining Pirates after impressing with 35 appearances across all competitions at Gallants. He scored three goals and chipped in with one assist.
PIRATES SEND ABDOULAYE MARIKO AND DANIEL MSENDAMI ON LOAN TO GALLANTS
While Pirates announced the arrival of Mabuza, they also confirmed that Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will spend the season on loan at Gallants. FARPost previously reported that Msendami was pushing for a return to Gallants—a club he knows well—in search of regular game time, which had eluded both him and Mariko at Pirates.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Marumo Gallants for the permanent transfer of Bheki Mabuza,” the club said on their website.
“The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for Mabuza, who was previously part of the Buccaneers setup.
“During his time away from the club, Mabuza made encouraging progress and impressed. His performances at Gallants convinced the club that he is ready to return and take the next step in his career.
“Meanwhile, the club can also confirm that Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction, joining Marumo Gallants on season-long loan agreements.”
