Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has given an update on Mohau Nkota’s injury, revealing when the talented winger is likely to return to action.
The Bafana Bafana star recently returned to Pirates after joining on a season-long loan from Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al-Ettifaq Club. Nkota is back in South Africa after spending one season in Saudi Arabia, having signed with Al-Ettifaq at the start of the 2025/26 season from the Soweto giants.
The left-footed winger is making a comeback to the Betway Premiership in a bid to regain his confidence after a spell filled with ups and downs in Saudi Arabia.
Nkota has arrived at Pirates in the current transfer window carrying an injury after sustaining a setback with his parent club last season. The pacy attacker gained prominence in the 2024/25 season, coming through Pirates’ development structures to the senior team under then-head coach Jose Riveiro.
MOHAU NKOTA EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE AFTER THREE WEEKS
In his first season in the Pirates’ first team, Nkota made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, while also chipping in five assists.
With the left-footed winger aiming to make an impressive showing in his second stint at Pirates, Ouaddou has revealed that Nkota will likely be out of action for three to four weeks.
“Nkota is still with the doctors and undergoing treatment. I think he had an injury when he was with his previous club. So I hope to have him in three to four weeks.” Ouaddou said in a media briefing at Orlando Amstel Arena on Friday.
Pirates are gearing up for the second leg of the CAF Champions League first preliminary round against La Cure Waves at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneers played to a goalless draw against the minnows away from home in the first leg last weekend.
