Head coach of Polokwane City Willy Moloto has explained why the club has roped in goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke. Masuluke joined the Betway Premiership side following his departure from Stellenbosch FC at the end of last season. The 33-year-old has been training with the Limpopo club for the past few weeks.
He arrived at the club after failing to secure a contract at Motsepe Foundation Championship side Real Native. Despite Moloto initially refuting that Masuluke was training with the club, the 2017 FIFA Puskás Award nominee made his official debut for Polokwane during the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Moloto says Masuluke’s arrival is to boost their goalkeeping department which already has Lindokuhle Mathebula. The former Baroka FC goalie boasts over 100 appearances in the South African topflight. Most of his appearances came during his two stints with Baroka.
“He adds a good value, he’ll help us a lot in terms of organising the defence,” Moloto told Journalists in Polokwane.
“He is a player that is a leader and it’s also something that we were looking at. It’s also going to push Mathebula. So we want to add balance in terms of good competition in our team.”

Meanwhile, Moloto was pleased with getting a point against Amakhosi, alluding to the fact that they are now back in the top eight.
The point means Polokwane City are now in position seven with seven points from the six matches played.
“It’s important in this League not to lose maximum points. If we can get two wins then it pushes us to a better position,” said Moloto.
“So the one point gives us seven points and takes us to the top eight, of which is something that we are working on.”
