Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thuso Moleleki has officially completed a move to Betway Premiership side Kruger United as a free agent.

The 26-year-old midfielder joins the Mpumalanga-based outfit following a short assessment spell with Lerumo Lions FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Moleleki spent the 2025/26 season on a season-long loan at Orbit College FC from Pirates, in search of regular game time. During his spell with the Pogiso Makhoye-led side, he featured in 13 matches across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists.

However, it turned out to be a tough campaign for Orbit College, who suffered automatic relegation on the final day of the season after a 2-0 defeat to Pirates at Mbombela Stadium. The North West side finished at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table in 16th place with 24 points from 30 matches.

WHY THUSO MOLELEKI LEFT LERUMO LIONS FC BEFORE SIGNING

Moleleki had been training with Lerumo, but opted to leave the club when a top-flight opportunity presented itself.

Lerumo head coach Tshepo Maphari confirmed the development to FARPost last month, saying the player left amicably to pursue the Betway Premiership offer.

“Well, he was one of the profile players we needed. However, just when we could conclude the deal, he received an offer from one of the Betway Premiership teams,” Maphari told FARPost.

“So, he opted to entertain the offer instead of completing the signing with us. We are watching the space closely, but he might be unveiled at one of the Betway Premiership clubs.

“He spoke with me on the side to say, ‘Coach, look, there’s this offer that is supposed to happen, so can I entertain it?’ I said it’s okay to entertain it and see what happens. If it does work out for him and he is unveiled, I wish him all the best for the season.”

AGENCY OFFICIALLY CONFIRMS MOLELEKI’S MOVE TO KRUGER UNITED

Moleleki’s agency, P Management Sports, confirmed the deal on Sunday night.

“Congratulations to former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thuso Moleleki for securing a contract with Kruger United,” reads the agency’s brief statement.
