Sekhukhune United coach Papi Zothwane has addressed the possibility of his side signing more players before the transfer window officially closes on the 22nd of September 2026.
Zothwane spoke about Sekhukhune’s squad after the club went five matches in all competitions without claiming a win.
The young coach recently took over the coaching job at Babina Noko to replace head coach Cedric Kaze, who has been shown the exit door after barely four months on the hot seat.
Kaze took over the coaching job at Sekhukhune in the off-season after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs, where he served as co-coach alongside Khalil Ben, who is currently leading Durban City FC.
After his arrival at Sekhukhune, Kaze struggled to turn the club into one of the competitive sides, notably losing against Orlando Pirates three times in a row in the space of one week.
As a result, Sekhukhune’s top management pulled the trigger and fired Kaze. Following the exit of the Burundian international, the club appointed Zothwane to lead the club, having served as the assistant coach under Kaze.
PAPI ZOTHWANE PLEASED WITH SEKHUKHUNE UNITED SQUAD
The former Richards Bay FC coach has already taken charge of two matches at Sekhukhune and played two draws. United drew 0-0 against TS Galaxy before recently settling for a 1-1 stalemate against Stellenbosch FC.
With Zothwane aiming to turn Sekhukhune United’s fortunes, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star has revealed that he’s happy with the squad at the Limpopo-based side.
“From now until December, we’ll work with what we have because I believe we have quality players that can do what we want,” Zothwane said.
“If we fill that, maybe we need to add players in certain positions; it won’t be now. For now we will work with the players that we have.”
