Sekhukhune United coach Papi Zothwane has addressed the possibility of his side signing more players before the transfer window officially closes on the 22nd of September 2026.
Zothwane spoke about Sekhukhune’s squad after the club went five matches without a win in all competitions.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows star recently took over the coaching job at Babina Noko to replace head coach Cedric Kaze, who has been shown the exit door after barely four months on the hot seat.
Kaze took over at Sekhukhune in the off-season after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs, where he served as co-coach alongside Khalil Ben, who now leads Durban City FC.
After his arrival at Sekhukhune, Kaze struggled to turn the club into a competitive side, notably losing to Orlando Pirates three times in a row in the space of one week.
As a result, Sekhukhune management wielded the axe on Kaze. Following the Burundian’s departure, the club handed the reigns to Zothwane, who had been serving as Kaze’s assistant alongside Paulus Masehe.
PAPI ZOTHWANE PLEASED WITH SEKHUKHUNE UNITED SQUAD
The former Richards Bay FC coach has already taken charge of two matches at Sekhukhune and drawn both. Sekhukhune drew 0-0 against TS Galaxy before recently settling for a 1-1 stalemate against Stellenbosch FC.
As Zothwane aims to turn Sekhukhune United’s fortunes around, the ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder expressed satisfaction with the squad currently at the Limpopo-based outfit.
“From now until December, we’ll work with what we have because I believe we have quality players that can do what we want,” Zothwane said.
“If we feel that, maybe we need to add players in certain positions; it won’t be now. For now we will work with the players that we have.”
