Polokwane City FC assistant coach Mkhuseli Sentane has shed light on the concerning incident that led to head coach Willy Moloto leaving the technical area just 30 minutes into their Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu FC.
AmaZulu secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, a result that propelled Usuthu to third place on the league standings with 16 points. In contrast, the defeat saw Polokwane City slide down to ninth position, having collected just seven points from their opening seven fixtures.
During the game against Usuthu, panic swept through the Rise and Shine bench during the first half when Moloto suddenly felt unwell. A club official promptly escorted the head coach to the dressing room, forcing Sentane to step up and direct proceedings from the touchline for the remainder of the encounter.
However, FARPost has established that the situation escalated once Moloto reached the tunnel. The veteran mentor collapsed inside the dressing room, requiring immediate medical intervention from on-site paramedics. He was subsequently rushed to a local hospital, where he was admitted and spent the entire night undergoing observation and treatment.

Speaking to the media after the final whistle, Sentane detailed the events leading up to the match and explained why the head coach was unable to see out the 90 minutes.
“Before we came here [Old Peter Mokaba Stadium], he [Willy Moloto] caught a very heavy flu,” Sentane revealed. “But because he’s a strong man, he said no, he will come and be with us. But unfortunately, when we were sitting there and trying to give instructions to the players, it became serious.
“So that’s why he was taken to the dressing room. I just want to wish him a speedy recovery so that he can come back to be with us. Let’s hope that he is fine because it’s just the flu.”
Polokwane City will find solace in the fact that Moloto’s health scare coincides with the upcoming FIFA international break. The mandatory pause gives the head coach ample time to fully recover before Rise and Shine return to competitive action on 18 October, when they travel to face Siwelele FC.
