Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has bemoaned the club’s lack of maturity in attack after playing to a goalless draw against Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium in the Betway Premiership.
The Glamour Boys failed to secure maximum points away from home against Golden Arrows despite creating clear-cut opportunities, including a missed first-half penalty, extending their winless league run to two matches.
Prior to sharing the spoils with Abafana Bes’thende, Chiefs played to a 1-1 draw against Polokwane City FC at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium following a costly error from goalkeeper Brandon Petersen—who subsequently suffered an injury, paving the way for Renaldo Leaner to make his Chiefs debut against Arrows.
The Soweto giants last tasted victory on 6 September, securing a thrilling 3-2 win over Siwelele FC at Dobsonville Stadium.
In Saturday’s clash against Arrows, Amakhosi’s attack lacked the necessary sharpness, with star midfielder Lebohang Maboe also failing to convert from the penalty spot. The result marks Chiefs’ fourth draw in just seven league matches this season.

Speaking in a post-match interview with SuperSport TV, Da Cruz pinpointed playing with a youthful team as the reason they struggled to score.
“We have a lack of maturity in our front line,” Da Cruz said. “It’s a lot of young players [in our team] with a lot of quality, but they have a lack of maturity.
“But we are on the right track, and we need to continue in this way. We are going to win games for sure; we will score goals.
“I’m 100% sure, I found a positive today [Sunday], even if it’s 0-0, but it was a good game.” Da Cruz added.
Following the stalemate against the KZN-based team, Chiefs are sitting fourth on the league table with 13 points, having claimed three wins and four draws in seven matches played.
