Mamelodi Sundowns have reached a mutual agreement to terminate Kobamelo Kodisang’s contract following his challenging spell with the Tshwane giants, FARPost has learnt.
The highly-rated winger has been the subject of speculation in the past few weeks as Sundowns searched for possible loan options for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Kodisang returned to Masandawana in the off-season after spending the previous campaign away on loan to search for regular game time.
The former SA junior international started the 2025/26 season on loan at the Portuguese top-division side AVS Futebol SAD. Upon his arrival in Portugal, Kodisang battled with injuries in the early stages of his loan stint.
As a result, his loan deal that was supposed to last for a season was cut short during the 2026 January transfer window.
After the abrupt exit at AVS Futebol SAD, Kodisang joined Stellenbosch FC to reunite with his former coach at Bidvest Wits, Gavin Hunt, hoping to bring his career back on track. It was also a loan deal.

However, Kodisang struggled to break into the starting line-up at Stellies after making only five appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old initially signed with Sundowns in July 2024 from Moreirense FC, where he had a successful spell with 14 goals and eight assists in 67 appearances across all competitions.
In his first season at Sundowns, Kodisang registered two goals and two assists in 13 matches. With the attacker set for a permanent exit, FARPost understands both parties are discussing a settlement before the player can move on to his next adventure.
It remains to be seen whether Kodisang will secure a move in the Betway Premiership or find a new challenge overseas where he has played arguably his best football.
