Esperance unveil former AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin as new coach

Esperance de Tunis has unveiled former AmaZulu FC mentor Pablo Franco Martin as their new head coach for the 202/27 season.

The Spanish coach has taken over the coaching job at Esperance after a successful spell with Mangreb Association Sportive de Fes in Morocco.

Martin is continuing his adventure in North Africa after making history with MAS Fes, where he guided the club to the league title.

The experienced coach spent one season in Morocco and made an immediate impact by beating big clubs such as Raja Casablanca, Wydad Athletic Club and RS Berkane to the title. Before moving to Morocco, Franco Martin had a spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Faisaly FC.

Meanwhile, the experienced coach was introduced to South African football ahead of the 2023/24 Betway Premiership season.

The 46-year-old spent 15 months with the KZN-based side, having signed a three-year deal with AmaZulu. Martin left Usuthu after failing to turn the club into one of the competitive sides in the PSL.

After an unsuccessful spell at the Durban-based side, Martin went on to prove his coaching pedigree in Morocco, and he will be looking to continue winning trophies in Tunisia.

At AmaZulu, Martin was in charge of 39 matches in all competitions. He won 12 games, drew 12 and suffered defeats on 15 occasions. The inconsistent run of form

Martin will be aiming to guide Esperance to a successful campaign in the domestic competitions but, most importantly, in the CAF Champions League.

Having won the Botola Pro title, Pablo Franco Martin has proven that he has what it takes to lead his team to a championship when trusted with the competitive squad.
