MIGUEL CARDOSO EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE FOR BEING HONORED IN HIS HOME SOIL
Taking to his official Instagram account on 2 October, Cardoso voiced his pride in receiving the accolade from the municipality where he was born and raised.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Trofa Town Council for the sporting merit recognition awarded at the 9th Trofa Sports Gala—a ceremony dedicated to honouring the athletes and sports agents who distinguished themselves within the municipality in 2026,” wrote Cardoso.
“I also extend my thanks to Dr Isabel Cruz. He represented me so wonderfully and accepted the award on my behalf. It is always a profound privilege to be recognised in the land where I was born and raised. To represent both Trofa and my country on the international stage.”
Since taking charge in December 2024, Cardoso has led Sundowns to major domestic and international success. His trophy cabinet includes the 2024/25 Betway Premiership title, the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, and the 2026 FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
Next weekend, on 10 October, he will face Orlando Pirates in a sold-out MTN8 final. This much-awaited showdown will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
