FARPost has established that players from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United have taken a stand to boycott training over unpaid salaries.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship side were due to undergo their usual tactical preparations on Monday, 5 October, but the playing squad took a firm stance and refused to take to the pitch at their base in Limpopo.
Gomora are currently competing in their second consecutive season in the National First Division following their promotion from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.
The club managed to retain their second-tier status during the previous campaign after finishing 13th on the log, before subsequently relocating their home fixtures to the Malamulele Stadium in Limpopo ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, off-pitch financial turbulence has continued to shadow the club’s progress.
As previously reported by FARPost in March 2026, leaked internal communications revealed that players and technical staff received only 50 percent of their monthly remuneration, with management citing severe cash flow constraints and unexpected financial hardships at the time.

Although club officials assured team members that measures were being implemented to stabilise the financial situation, insider sources have confirmed that payment delays have resurfaced over the past two months.
The dispute reached boiling point at the start of the week, leading to the collective decision by players to down tools until their financial grievances are resolved.
GOMORA UNITED MANAGEMENT REFUTE TRAINING BOYCOTT CLAIMS
When contacted by FARPost to clarify the situation, Gomora United team manager Lebogang Makhaye vehemently denied the reports, insisting that all playing members remain fully paid.
“I am saying to you all the players have been paid on time,” Makhaye told FARPost. “So I don’t know who is coming with that nonsense. Everyone has been paid on time. Unless there is someone who wants to bring divisions in the team.”
On the pitch, Gomora currently occupy eighth place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table, having accumulated eight points from their opening five matches courtesy of two wins, two draws, and a single defeat.
