The Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS] has confirmed that the final ruling regarding Senegal’s appeal against the Confederation of African Football [CAF] and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation [FRMF] is expected next month.

CAS announced on Monday, 19 October 2026, that a verdict on Senegal’s appealโ€”which contests the decision to strip them of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] title in favour of Moroccoโ€”will be delivered at the end of November 2026.

The CAS panel is currently deliberating on the matter following a closed-door hearing held in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday, 8 October. The final ruling will include full legal grounds detailing the verdict.

The legal dispute stems from a decision by the CAF Appeals Board regarding the 2025 AFCON final. The match took place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat between Senegal and host nation Morocco.

The showpiece final on January 18 was marred by high drama. This was after Senegal players staged a pitch walk-off to protest a penalty awarded to Morocco. The match was interrupted for approximately 16 minutes as tempers flared.

Senegal eventually regrouped to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory in extra time. The win marked their second continental crown and left the home supporters in Rabat heartbroken.
