South African representatives Orlando Pirates and Durban City FC have discovered their opponents for the group stages of the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions.
The official draw took place at the Egyptian Football Association [EFA] headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday, 28 October.
Proceedings kicked off at 13:00 South African time with the CAF Confederation Cup draw, immediately followed by the CAF Champions League proceedings.
The draw followed the conclusion of the preliminary rounds for both tournaments, which commenced in September. A total of 16 clubs have reached the group phase in each competition, with the group stage matches scheduled to commence in November 2026.
WHO ARE ORLANDO PIRATES AND DURBAN CITY’S GROUP STAGE OPPONENTS?
The Betway Premiership defending champions Orlando Pirates have been drawn into Group C of the CAF Champions League. They will battle against RS Berkane [Morocco], Simba SC [Tanzania], and Colombe Sportive [Cameroon] for a place in the knockout stages.
The Soweto giants sailed into the group stage after a dominant 5-0 aggregate victory over Namibian side African Stars in the second preliminary round.
Pirates will be seeking redemption in the tournament, as they were eliminated by FC St Éloi Lupopo from DR Congo in the second preliminary round, following a 5-4 defeat on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate tie last season.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Durban City FC have been drawn in Group B. The Citizens will go head-to-head with North African giants AS FAR [Morocco], Al Ahly Tripoli [Libya], and East African side Azam FC [Tanzania].
Durban City secured their spot in the group phase in emphatic style, easing past Mauritian outfit AS Port-Louis 2000 with a 6-1 aggregate triumph in the second preliminary round.
