Cape Town City FC midfielder Gabriel Amato has joined global sports agency Roc Nation Sports International [RNSI], marking a significant step in the promising youngster’s career amid reported interest from overseas clubs.
The highly rated midfielder becomes the latest South African talent to join the agency, which recently secured the signature of his Cape Town City teammate Cayden Fortune. Amato joins a roster of emerging footballers that includes Neo Bohloko, Emile Witbooi and Siya Mabena.
Amato was promoted to Cape Town City’s senior team during the 2024/25 season and made 31 appearances across all competitions while the club was still competing in the Betway Premiership.
The 20-year-old has continued to develop despite City’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The 2026/27 campaign has been his most productive yet. He has scored two goals and made four assists, underlining his growing influence in midfield. His progress has strengthened his reputation as one of South Africa’s promising young talents, with ambitions to play abroad and eventually earn recognition at senior international level.
GABRIEL AMATO’S EUROPEAN AMBITIONS RECEIVE BOOST

Amato’s move to Roc Nation comes amid continued speculation about his prospects of securing a transfer abroad. In December 2025, he trained with Dutch Eredivisie outfit PEC Zwolle, gaining valuable exposure to European football. He has also been linked with Major League Soccer side FC Cincinnati, while Stellenbosch FC were previously reported to be interested in his services.
Although an overseas move has yet to materialise, his new representation could help open doors as he looks to take the next step in his career.
RNSI’s Head of Global Football Recruitment, Nathan Campbell, said the agency had followed Amato’s development for some time.
“Beyond his undeniable on-field qualities, RNSI recognised that Amato possesses the exemplary mindset, discipline and work ethic required to navigate a successful professional career at the highest global level,” Campbell said.
