The race for promotion in the ABC Motsepe League is intensifying as more teams have secured their spots in the provincial playoffs.
These playoffs serve as a crucial stepping stone for teams aiming to reach the national playoffs and ultimately gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the second tier of SA Football.
In SAFA Eastern Cape, Highbury FC have won the provincial Stream B, having amassed 37 points with two games to spare. This comes after the side defeated Ayliff City 2-0 at home on Saturday, 23 March 2024.
On the other hand, Stream A is still wide open, with Sinenkani FC favourites to win the stream as they are currently top of the table with 33 points after 11 games.
Shifting focus to the Northern Cape, NC Professionals are Stream A champions after beating Kakamas Juventus 2-0 on their own turf this past Saturday. NC Professionals are now top of the log standings with 38 points after 14 matches. Stream B is still undecided.
Dondol Stars are not slowing down in the Gauteng province. They continued with their fine form, thrashing SK FC 3-0 over the weekend. Dondol are still top of the table with 65 points after 29 games.
In the Limpopo province, Tzaneen United increased their chances of winning Stream B by beating Ngwaabe City Motors 2-1 on Friday, 22 March 2024. United have collected 38 points from 14 outings. As things stand, United needs a point to win their stream.
Meanwhile, a league match between Munaca FC and Winners Park was abandoned when the opposition side [Winners Park] walked off the pitch in protest of a referee’s decision. Munaca were leading 3-0 when the game was abandoned, with 13 minutes left to play.
