Peter Shalulile makes huge promise after his big milestone

After reaching another major milestone, prolific Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has made a huge promise.

The Namibian sharp-shooter joined an exclusive PSL club following his brace against CR Belouzidad on Saturday.

BIG MILESTONE FOR PETER SHALULILE

Shalulile scored his 100th club goal in the PSL, becoming only the seventh player to achieve this feat since the start of the PSL era in 1996.

He joins an exclusive list which includes the likes of Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mabhuti Khenyeza, Daniel Mudau, Tico Tico Bucuane, Collins Mbesuma and Bradley Grobler.

Speaking to his club’s media team, the 29-year-old revealed the secret to his scoring exploits, adding more is yet to come.

“Coach Rulani [Mokwena] always tells me to stay in the box. The secret for being a good striker is to stay in the box. In the kitchen. And then when the ball comes you are there,” said Shalulile.

THE HUGE PROMISE

“I could have scored three goals [against Belouzidad], but God decided to give me two. I should still work on my finishing because it doesn’t stop here. We keep on going and and going.”

His brace against the Algerian outfit helped Sundowns earn a 4-1 win in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

Shalulile has been a standout performer for the Tshwane giants since joining from Highlands Park just over three seasons ago.

He scored 27 goals for the club before making the big move to Chloorkop where he has since cemented his status as the best striker in the league.

For Sundowns, Shalulile has found the back of the net 73 times and looks to be getting better with every game.

“We give glory to God, my teammates, the coaches and family members,” added Shalulile.

“We have been patient, no goal for quite a long time as a team but with patience it paid off. But for me, these [milestones] are just rewards and motivation to go on and score more goals.”
