Raymond Mdaka reveals secret behind Ranga Chivaviro’s form at Marumo Gallants
Marumo Gallants head coach Raymond Mdaka has revealed the secret behind Ranga Chivaviro’s fine form at Bahlabane ba Ntwa.
Mdaka explained that he is delighted with the recent attitude of lead striker Chivaviro in the field of play.
The 30-year-old frontman has produced his most impressive performances in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
So far, the Limpopo-born footballer has scored eight goals in 16 appearances across all competitions for Marumo.
Chivaviro was born in Ga-Kgapane to a Venda mother and a Shona father, who later moved to Secunda.
RAYMOND MDAKA IMPRESSED WITH RANGA CHIVAVIRO’S FORM
“We always say to the players that you might not be playing, but once you are given an opportunity, and you show how much you can do, it also builds your own confidence as a player, unlike when you have not been playing,” said Mdaka during the Nedbank Cup virtual press conference.
“I think Ranga is using the opportunity that he has been given. As much as we feel there are some areas we believe he can do much better and improve on.”
Mdaka continued: “You get into the field of play, you score some goals, so it gives confidence to him. That’s what I think is happening right now.
“I think where he is now on its own, you always think you can do much better, which is good for the team.”
MARUMO GALLANTS SEEKING FOR REVENGE
Meanwhile, Marumo will have a chance to get their revenge when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup last 16. They lost the last edition’s final to Sundowns.
Mdaka’s charges will welcome Bafana Ba Style at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Thursday, 2 March 2023. The showdown is scheduled to start at 18:00.
