La Masia makes appointment after Daine Klate’s exit
La Masia FC have appointed an interim coach following the departure of their head coach, Daine Klate.
Klate’s exit was confirmed to FARPost by the club’s official saying the two parties “mutually decided to part ways after falling short of desired results on the field.”
The former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United left-footer guided the side in 18 matches. They won four, lost six and drew eight.
He was in charge of the club since October last year when he took over from Delano Hendricks who had been redeployed to the Technical Director role.
It is understood the 39-year-old’s technical team including the assistant coach Alzavian Van Rheede and the goalkeeper coach Moneeb Josephs will stay put.
LA MASIA ROPES IN ALZAVIAN VAN RHEEDE AS AN INTERIM COACH
The Gauteng outfit has roped in Van Rheede to steer the side on an interim basis.
Van Rheede was a coach at the Wits varsity football team before he was appointed as the head coach of Wits University FC competing in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.
This was after the Bidvest Wits’ PSL club status was sold to the Limpopo businessman Lawrence Mulaudzi. He later renamed the franchise to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Van Rheede arrived at La Masia in February this year. He will be looking to help the side move away from the drop zone.
La Masia have won five, lost eight and drawn ten of 23 league matches they have played this season. Besides the league games, they also participated in the Nedbank Cup where they suffered a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Round of 32.
They sit in 12th place on the log standings with 25 points accumulated. They’re only two points ahead of Polokwane City Rovers who are 15th, which is the relegation spot on the table.
La Masia are next in action against Baroka FC in the league game on Tuesday, 16 April at 3:00 pm. The match takes place at the Dobsonville Stadium.
