King Ndlovu reveals indoor soccer behind Marumo Gallants exit

Former Marumo Gallants goalkeeper, King Ndlovu, has revealed that his involvement in indoor soccer was a contributing factor to his abrupt departure from the club. Ndlovu returned to Marumo at the beginning of the season after his departure at Maritzburg United.

The 31-year-old had spent a season with the Team of Choice when they were relegated from the DStv Premiership.

After an impressive start on his return to the club, Ndlovu surprisingly left after only six months. He has since explained to FARPost how he left the 2021 Nedbank Cup champions.

WHAT LED TO KING NDLOVU’S DEPARTURE AT MARUMO GALLANTS?

“Everything was fine. I was playing, and everything was going well, but when Mr [Sinky] Mnisi left that’s where the problem started,” he said.

“So after that, I didn’t play for two or three games. Maybe they felt I was too close to him or something like that.”

“Another thing was that every Thursday night, we played indoor soccer at Mall of Africa. So, they had an issue with that. I was called for a DC because I was playing indoor soccer.

“So I didn’t want to fight hence I decided that nah I am out, and I don’t regret that decision, to be honest,” he said.

VETERAN GOALKEEPER OPTIMISTIC OF OVERCOMING DIFFICULT PERIOD IN HIS CAREER

Ndlovu has been unattached to any club since he departed from Marumo and is training with a team at the Tshwane University of Technology. He described the current period of his life as painful and revealed the last time he enjoyed his football.

“To be honest, it pains me. I feel like people have not seen my potential. I mean the last time I played freely was at Black Leopards. After that, there have just been some issues that I don’t even know where they come from.
