AmaTuks sign former Black Leopards captain
Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria have continued to beef up their squad with the signing of a former Black Leopards Leopards captain.
AmaTuks have already signed two ex-Mamelodi Sundowns duo Rodney Ramagalela and Thokozani Sekotlong as previously reported by FARPost.
The Pretoria-based outfit have made its intentions of wanting to gain automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership clear by adding seasoned campaigners to their squad.
The Tlisane Motaung-coached club have signed defender Isaac Masia, who was on the books of Maritzburg United at the start of the 2022/23 season.
Isaac Masia has, however, failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Maritzburg.
ISAAC MASIA ON HIS WAY TO AMATUKS
This publication has it good authority that the former Leopards skipper has penned a deal with Tuks.
“Our intentions to compete are clear hence we saw the need to make reinforcements,” a club official told FARPost.
“We signed Isaac Masia, who many know as a captain of Black Leopards, but at the beginning of the season, he was with Maritzburg United.
“There’s no doubt that Masia is a quality player, and he will assist with his leadership qualities.”
Furthermore, AmaTuks have snapped up the highly-rated centre-back Tshepiso Mahlangu from the North-West University team that participates in the Varsity Cup.
“We have also signed Tshepiso Mahlangu, who played in the Varsity Cup with North-West University,” added the reliable source.
In the current second-tier campaign, AmaTuks have won four games, drawn six and lost two times.
They are positioned 6th on the championship table with 18 points accumulated.
Last season, University of Pretoria finished as runners-up in the National First Division behind Richards Bay.
The Natal Rich Boys were crowned champions and gained promotion to the top flight.
AmaTuks will face Cape Town Spurs in the Nedbank Cup preliminary round on Friday, 6th of January, at Athlone Stadium.
