Baroka claim crucial win over AmaTuks while All Stars join title race
Baroka claimed a crucial 3-1 victory over AmaTuks [University of Pretoria], while All Stars joined the chasing pack in the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race.
The Ga-Mphahlele-based side handed AmaTuks their second defeat in 2023 after they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup Preliminary rounds by Cape Town Spurs last week Friday.
AmaTuks hit a dip in form
The Tlisane Motaung-coached team have hit a dip in recent form, which saw them drop to the ninth position on the log.
Bakgakga were relegated from the DStv Premiership to the National First Division last season, and they have struggled to find a consistent winning formula.
All Stars have joined the race in the title chase after collecting three points against Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Saturday. All Stars beat TTM 2-0 to climb to the third spot in the second tier.
JDR Stars added to relegation-threatened Pretoria Callies’ woes after handing them a 1-0 loss at Shoshanguve Gaint Stadium on Friday.
Callies are currently rooted at the basement of the log with just eight points to their name after 13 games played.
Meanwhile, Black Leopards and Venda Football Academy played a 1-1 at Thohoyandou Stadium in the Vhembe derby on Saturday.
Leopards are positioned 14th in the NFD log, while VFA is placed in 15th spot. Both sides remain at risk of being relegated to the ABC Motsepe League.
Furthermore, Cape Town Spurs moved up to sixth place after defeating Hungry Lions 1-0 at Athlone Stadium on Friday.
