Chippa United outline DStv Premiership second round targets
With the eagerly awaited return of DStv Premiership action on Friday, Chippa United have set their sights on one thing. That is to maintain their excellent display and secure a top-eight finish at the end of the season.
Chippa United were one of the in-form teams before the temporary league closure due to the FIFA World Cup. The appointment of Morgan Mammila saw the club record four consecutive league wins, a first in their history.
They also sit in sixth position on the log with 13 matches played. Before the mid-season break, Chippa had only lost once in six matches. They will take on Stellenbosch at Danie Craven on Friday.
TOP EIGHT FINISH DOABLE FOR CHIPPA UNITED
Mammila tells FARPost the club have set their target on finishing in the top eight, something they believe is doable.
“The dream is to stay in the top eight bracket, which is possible and doable,” said Mammila.
“That’s our focus, to stay in the top eight bracket from now up until the end of the season.”
PLAYERS RARING TO GO
“To be honest, fitness-wise, we are much better compared to the previous 13 matches. Of course, those wins before the FIFA break have boosted the morale of the team.
“Even the supporters can’t wait for us to return because of those previous wins. We are looking forward to finishing the year in style.”
