Former SuperSport United forward Kuda Mahachi has been acquitted of the two attempted murder charges he was facing in Zimbabwe.
The speedy winger hogged the limelight in June this year after he was accused by his ex-wife of neglecting his 4-year-old son and attempting to end the minor’s life.
Consequently, the DStv Premiership side SuperSport opted to end their marriage with the player upon the expiry of his contract in June.

SuperSport United Chief Executive Officer Stan Matthews said Mahachi must channel his energies on clearing his name.
Matthews said: “We suspended him from all football activities at that time, and he remains suspended. His contract expires on the 30th of June, so there won’t really be any further action on our part.
“We’ve encouraged him to focus on clearing his name and making sure his child gets the best-rehabilitated care possible, given the current situation.
“That is something you’d need to speak to Kuda about, as, from a club perspective, his contract expires at the end of the month. It won’t be renewed.
“He remains on suspension until all these issues between himself and his personal family situation are resolved,” was quoted saying in the media.
However, on Thursday, Bulawayo magistrate Mark Dzira ruled that the state did not provide enough evidence to nail the 29-year-old down.
According to Dzira, all witnesses gave contradicting and disjointed testimonies, thereby rendering the former Highlanders forward innocent.
In presenting the judgment, Magistrate Dzira was clear that the complainant gave contradictory statements during the cross-examination process.
NO CLEAR TESTIMONIES
Dzira added that all the witnesses did not give clear testimonies; hence it was difficult to ascertain the truth.
The magistrate added that the medical reports also failed to ascertain the cause of the injuries on the child.
For Mahachi, however, this development presents him with a fresh start after he fell by the wayside due to criminal charges.
And having been chucked out of SuperSport ranks, Mahachi returns to the market exactly five months after the controversy.
His former club, Chicken Inn, is believed to be his potential destination should he consider restarting his career in Zimbabwe.
