How Arthur Zwane prepared Christian Saile for his Chiefs debut

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane was impressed by the performance put in by forward Christian Saile on his debut against Royal AM in a DStv Premiership clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

The Soweto giants managed to pick up maximum points when they got the better of the KwaZulu-Natal side 2-0, thanks to goals by Sifiso Hlanti and Ashley Du Preez.

This was Amakhosi’s first win after their three consecutive losses in the hands of Sekhukhune United [1-0], AmaZulu [4-0] and the red-hot Mamelodi Sundowns [1-0].

Zwane was happy with how well the new frontman, Saile, did on his Glamour Boys’ debut despite the limited time of preparations he had received since joining the side from Nchanga Rangers in Zambia.

He joined Chiefs on a three-and-half-year contract.

After their game against Thwihli Thwahla, Zwane expressed his delight about how the 22-year-old left-footed striker executed his plan when he took centre stage in the second stanza.

CHRISTIAN SAILE IMPRESSES ARTHUR ZWANE

“We knew that when Christian came on, he would deliver what is expected of him,” Zwane told the media in Polokwane.

“We didn’t want him to start with the game, the reason being that we wanted him to look at how the opposition has set up. And also, we didn’t want to put him under pressure.

“You know, we wanted him to read the game from the bench and capitalise or take advantage from there.”

CHRISTIAN SAILE, THE PLAN EXECUTOR

“Whatever the information we gave him before he went into the field, he did exactly what he was told to do, and it worked for us,” he added.

“Congrats to him and the rest of the guys for executing the plan.”

Following the victory over Abram Nteo’s charges, Chiefs climbed to fifth on the log standings. They are currently 25 points behind log leaders Bafana Ba Style. Zwane’s side have amassed 27 points from 18 matches this campaign.
