Kerr: I tried my best under difficult and challenging circumstances

Former Swallows coach Dylan Kerr has reflected back on his tenure as coach of the Dube Birds following his sacking this week.

The Maltese born was shown the door after the 4-0 drubbing by Golden Arrows.

Swallows are currently third from bottom after collecting just eight points from eight matches. They also have the worst goals conceded (14).

The club’s stay in the top division has been marked by controversies of unpaid salaries amongst others.

KERR’s STATEMENT

In a statement on his Facebook page on Friday, the 55-year-old said he gave his best under very difficult circumstances.

“I’d like to thank Swallows FC for the opportunity to be part of history with the oldest team in South Africa,” said Kerr.

“I leave knowing that I gave my everything and more for the club, the players and supporters to keep their dreams alive.

“I tried my level best to bring an exciting brand of football back to the Dube Birds in line with the history of the club,” he said.

Earlier this year SAFPU deputy secretary-general Calvin Motloung confirmed that players at Swallows refused to train after some players did receive their salaries for a period of seven months.

Although the former Baroka, Black Leopards and Marumo Gallants mentor did not divulge the challenges he acknowledged that there were challenging circumstances.

“This was not always easy, often under very difficult and challenging circumstances, which have all been well publicised.

“My main mandate on joining the club in December 2021, was to save the club from relegation, by all means possible,” he continued.

“I achieved the mandate and can leave with the knowledge and experience that I have gained in this time. Wishing the club all the very best for the season and beyond.”

The club is yet to announce who will take over from Kerr.
