Orlando Pirates’ new striker Souaibou Marou makes promise to Bucs fans

Orlando Pirates new striker Souaibou Marou has made a promise to the fans of the Buccaneers.

The new signing from Cameroon’s Coton Sport has vowed to deliver the goods for the DStv Premiership giants.

“I will do my best,” Souaibou Marou said in reaction to a plea from a fan via his Facebook account.

A Pirates fan calling himself Maceeyah Nsindisoh Sthenjwah urged the new arrival to prove his worth with the Buccaneers.

“Welcome brother. Please do your work. We need more,” Sthenjwah wrote.

Another supporter of Pirates Maanḓa Dzuvhaḽitswu Muḓalahoṱhe wished the striker well.

“Welcome to the Buccaneers. Hope your stay will be a rewarding and fulfilling one,” he said.

“And good luck with your endeavours.”

Souaibou Marou showed appreciation for the post by simply saying: “Thank you.”

Another Pirates fan, Nkagizang Diztance, hoped the signing of Marou would solve the team’s scoring problems.

“All the best my man and wishing you lots and lots of goals because we are really struggling in that department,” Diztance said.

The former Coton Sport forward reacted by saying: “Thank you. God Bless you too.”

Souaibou Marou engaged Pirates fans hours after completing his first training with Pirates on Thursday.

The Cameroonian has arrived in South Africa with a big reputation.

He scored 34 goals and provided 22 assists in 74 matches spread across three seasons with Coton Sport’s main team.

Marou has since reacted to his first day in training with Pirates.

“First training with the team. New journey for my career at Orlando Pirates. Thank you for the warm welcome,” he wrote on his Facebook account.

“Thank you, Orlando Pirates. Miss my boys, will make you proud. I already miss my brothers.”

He added: “What a warm welcome by Orlando Pirates Football Club fans. Thank you.”

The 22-year-old forward completed his transfer to the Buccaneers on Thursday after signing a two-year contract.

He is the second Cameroonian to join Pirates this season after Eva Nga, who came from Chippa United.
