Sithebe spells out Chiefs’ goals for the season

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has set out his goals for the new DStv Premiership season.
Kaizer chiefs started their season on the back foot after losing 1-0 to the tricky Royal AM side on Saturday afternoon at Chatsworth Stadium.

Sithebe, who was signed alongside Ashley Du Preez, Dillon Solomons, Yusuf Maart, Zitha Kwinika and George Matlou in the off-season believes it’s too early to press panic buttons.

“As a player since I started playing in the PSL and the experience, playing for a big team I have, I need to achieve and win trophies and compete for the league as a player. That’s the things I want right now,” the 29-year-old told the media.
The KZN-born star joined Arthur Zwane’s side from AmaZulu in July after signing a pre-contract with the Soweto giants in January. The dreadlocked midfielder was frozen out of Usuthu’s matchday squad after it was widely reported that the player won’t stay at the club beyond the 2021/22 campaign.

The Glamour Boys, who are on a seven-year trophy drought, having won their last trophy in 2015, are seeking to reclaim the glory days. Despite not playing competitive football for six months, the former Mbombela United attacker was a live wire for Phefeni-outfit, stringing a few good passes and making box entries.

“I wasn’t expecting to play 90 minutes, I think this is a gift from God and as a player, you must keep fit, and I’m very proud of my performance,” Sithebe added.
The 2020/21 CAF Champions league finalists take aim at Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 9 August. Kick-off is 7:30pm.

They will be hoping to get a win to set the tone ahead of the weekend showdown against defending DStv Premiership champions Sundowns. The two giants clash on Saturday at the Loftus Versfeld in a match that could prove a litmus test for Amakhosi’s new squad.
