Agent reveals why Kudakwashe Mahachi’s DStv Prem return won’t be rushed

Kudakwashe Mahachi’s agent, Gibson Mahachi, says they are in no hurry to seal a deal as they are focusing on ensuring that the ex-Orlando Pirates star regains full fitness.

The Zimbabwe-based agent told FARPost that despite receiving many offers, the player’s fitness is their main priority at the moment.

“He has been training with DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United, but that is primarily for him to gain full fitness.

“We all know that he has not been playing for a very long time. He needs to be fully fit before committing to any club.

“Honestly, we have offers, but because of the situation, we are not in a hurry to conclude anything because the player is our priority.

“The window is open; he is a free agent, so he can be able to join a club which we feel is the best for him to revive his career with less pressure,” added the agent.

Initially, the agent said an announcement regarding the former Orlando Pirates star’s future will soon be revealed.

However, these sentiments all but throw doubt on the chances of a move during the January transfer window.

The agent added: “This is a crucial stage for him. We have to be cautious of the move he makes because we want the best for him.

“Offers are there but regaining fitness is the priority. So, first things first.”

The 29-year-old is trying to revive his after he fell by the wayside when he was accused of attempting to end his 4-year-old son’s life.

That saw SuperSport terminating his contract as he was dragged before the courts of law in Zimbabwe.

He was acquitted of all the charges in November, a development that gave him another chance to restart his career in the DStv Premiership.

At the moment, Maritzburg United are the favourites to sign him, though, with a number of elite league clubs believed to be interested in his services.
