Antonio van Wyk describes his good start as ‘rollercoaster ride’
Stellenbosch FC forward Antonio van Wyk has opened up about his good start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
The attacker has described his experience so far in South Africa’s topflight as a ‘rollercoaster ride’.
The DStv Diski Challenge graduate, who made his breakthrough to Stellies’ first team, last season has proved that he’s up for the challenge in the big league.
This season he is one match away from equaling the number of games he played last season [12].
In the 2022/23 campaign, van Wyk has impressed showing signs that he has adapted to the play and tempo of the league.
So far, the 20-year-old has scored twice and provided two assists in the league.
His fine start to the season earned him a national team call up for the COSAFA Cup. He made instant impact finding the back of the net against Botswana.

“My experience in the DStv Premiership so far has been like a rollercoaster ride in terms of my performance and the team’s performance,” van Wyk told the club’s media department.
“My contributions for the teams has been a turner for me because last season I was injured a lot for the half of the season. This season I think I’m thriving so far.”
Van Wyk further outlined his main goal for the rest of the season which resumes end of December.
“My expectations for the remainder of the season is to keep improving. Improve my performances and help my team achieve the end goal of the season,” van Wyk added.
The starlet is expected to be in action when the Western Cape outfit host Chippa United on 30 December at Danie Craven Stadium. Kickoff is at 5:30pm.
