Cole Alexander on Blom’s departure and Samkelo Zwane’s emergence

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander says although he is happy for Njabulo Blom, it is sad to see the Bafana Bafana international leave the Soweto giants.

Njabulo Blom recently secured a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) St Louis City SC. His departure has resulted in the rise of Samkelo Zwane, whom Alexander tips for success at Chiefs.

Blom joins the MLS side on a two-year contract that runs through the end of the 2024 season with two option years in 2025 and 2026.

Cole, who has played with Blom since 2021, has described the 23-year-old as a professional.

He ranks Blom at the same level as Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena.

“Firstly (Njabulo) Blom is an amazing pro. He is such a good player, he together with Teboho Mokoena has been my favourite player,” said Alexander.

“It’s sad that he left us but also I am happy for him that he is going overseas.”

ALEXANDER TIPS SAMKELO ZWANE TO SUCCEED

“On (Samkelo) Zwane, the boy is good. The boy is quality, he has shown he can play in the PSL and like many coaches and people know that this league is not about age and is not just on the younger side but on the older side as well. So it goes both ways.”

Alexander was speaking at the draw of the 2023 Nedbank Cup in Sandton on Thursday evening.

“It’s very important to go all out and win. As I said previously we have everything at the club to prepare the best ad we can. We have the best coaches and it is just for us as players to bring it home.”

Kaizer Chiefs have been drawn against Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup last 32 round.
