CONFIRMED: Chiefs among clubs tracking AmaZulu FC star
Kaizer Chiefs is among several DStv Premiership clubs tracking an AmaZulu FC star; it has since been confirmed.
Chiefs are making plans for next season in relation to bringing in new players.
With the DStv Premiership title already in Mamelodi Sundowns’ grasp, Chiefs will be looking to give it another go next season.
After 23 games played in the 2022/23 season, third-placed Chiefs are 22 points behind Sundowns, meaning the league is beyond their reach.
A source within the club has told FARPost that the club recently made contact with AmaZulu midfielder Siphesihle Maduna.
KAIZER CHIEFS KEEN ON AMAZULU FC STAR
“The club recently got in touch with him expressing their interest in signing him, but obviously, he is contracted to AmaZulu, and they would have to engage them,” the source told FARPost.
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu further revealed that Amakhosi were one of the parties that previously spoke to them about the 23-year-old midfielder.
“Kaizer Chiefs did talk to us some time ago. It’s just one of the parties that contacted us about Maduna,” Zungu said in a telephonic interview.
However, Zungu revealed that the attacking midfielder was key to them and unavailable for sale.
“He’s our player for quite some time. He signed a new contract two seasons ago. I hear people saying he’s going end of this season. He’s got another season with us,” the AmaZulu supremo explained to FARPost.
ZUNGU ON SIPHESIHLE MADUNA INJURY
The Watersmeet-born star has featured 13 times for Usuthu this season and is currently out due to a muscle injury. 11 of his appearances have come in the league, while two were in the MTN8 Cup.
“Maduna has been injured, but he’s really important to us. He’s got a muscle injury. He is very key to us,” stressed Zungu.
Maduna was once considered among the best young talents in the local game after being nominated for the 2019/20 PSL Young Player of the Season accolade.
However, since then, injuries have hampered his growth as he looks to replicate the form he displayed in the 2019/20 term. That particular season, the then-teenager provided three assists and scored once.
