Elvis Chipezeze finds a new home

Zimbabwean international goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze seems to have found a new home after parting ways with Baroka.

FARPost spotted Chipezeze among the players training with newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side Magesi FC on Monday morning in Polokwane, Limpopo.

Chipezeze spent the past four seasons at Bakgaga but amicably reached a decision to part ways with the club following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The 32-year-old looks set to be unveiled by Magesi before the season starts on 2 September.

Another player who is also set to join Magesi is former Black Leopards and Baroka midfielder Kagiso Selemela.

Selemela has also stated training with the club.

Magesi recently gained promotion to the first division following the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs which took place at the University of the North in Potchefstroom. They finished runners-up after losing to Gauteng side La Maisa in the final.

This is not the first time that the Limpopo club finds itself in the national first division set-up. They won the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League stream in 2015/16 and subsequently gained promotion to the NFD via the national playoffs.

The club was originally called Tambo FC and won promotion from SAB league to ABC Motsepe league and changed its name. The club was a fierce rivalry between themselves and Baroka FC during their time together at the Limpopo ABC Motsepe league along with Dolphins FC.

The club is a regular contender in the Nedbank Cup representing the lower league from Limpopo. Their best finish was reaching the Round of 16 where they played and lost 6-0 to now defunct Bidvest Wits.

They are coached by former Zulu Royals striker Jackie Ledwaba. Ledwaba was the top scorer in the Premiership during the 2003/04 season. He has also coached Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League side Phiva Young Stars.
