Grobler eager to get scoring touch back
SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler says he is hungry to score more goals for the club. He recovered from a lengthy injury that kept him on the sidelines for nine months.
The 33-year-old has started all the games in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season and found the back of the net once. He is confident that when he becomes 100% fit, he will start scoring goals like before.
According to the striker, keeping fit throughout the season is his main objective which will help him regain his form in front of goal.
“I’m feeling positive. It’s a good sign for me. The number one thing is to get my fitness levels back. In the first three games, I was happy with that. I want to score in every game, but it’s difficult,” Grobler told the media.
“It’s good to be back. I feel like a kid. It’s been nine months since I played. I missed a lot, especially at this stage of my career. Time is running out, so I need to make it up for the years I lost.”
“The main focus is to stay injury-free and on the field, and I have no doubt goals will come. It’s something I have to work on, and I have to work hard. I have no doubt I will get back, and it won’t be long.”
The former South African international pinpointed what he thinks is lacking from the Matsatsantsa squad. This has contributed to their poor start to the new campaign.
“What lacks is hunger, desire and fight to play well. The game may get ugly. You have to fight hard and get the results. In this league, that’s what you need. You need guys who are willing to die in the field, one point for three points.”
“We have unbelievable talent here. We have to get this in our blood and fight. It’s been a difficult start. Results show for it. We look good just that we don’t put the ball in the back of the net, and we conceded silly goals,” Grobler added.
The 2020/21 top scorer will be hoping to add to his tally on Sunday when they welcome Orlando Pirates at Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kickoff is at 17:30.
