Royal AM head coach John Maduka has explained why heโ€™s confident that encountering Mamelodi Sundowns came at the time for his side.

Fresh from a 5-2 victory over Al Ahly last Saturday, Masandawana are going to square off against Thwihli Thwahla on Tuesday in the DStv Premiership at Loftus Versfeld with kick-off set for 19:30.

Maduka was speaking after his charges bagged a hard-fought 3-1 win against Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

With AM having not suffered a defeat since he took over in February, he believes his side is highly motivated ahead of a battle with the defending champions.

WHY MADUKA THINKS THIS IS PERFECT TIME FOR ROYAL AM TO FACE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

โ€œI think itโ€™s a good time that we are facing Sundowns, a very good team, we know that itโ€™s going to be a very difficult team to play against,โ€ Maduka told the journalists.

โ€œThey know what weโ€™re capable of and they donโ€™t take us lightly. So, we know that theyโ€™re going to prepare for the game very, very well.

โ€œBut I think it is the right time to play against them whereby the confidence of the players [is high] and we can win games.

โ€œWe have played so many matches without a loss now, that is motivation enough as weโ€™re going to the Sundowns game.โ€

Since reuniting with the Malawian mentor, Royal AM have won four and drew two of the six games they have played in all competitions.

They currently sit seventh on the log standings after collecting 29 points in 22 games. Meanwhile, the Brazilians are sitting comfortably at the summit of the table with a gap of 17 points to second-placed SuperSport United.

The Tshwane giants have accumulated 56 points in 22 games so far.
