Mgqithi hails Sekhukhune squad depth

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mgqithi has praised Sekhukhune United’s squad depth ahead of their DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday.

The Limpopo outfit has been busy in the transfer market bringing in 16 players after parting ways with 15.

Despite Masandawana winning both games against Sekhukhune United last season, Mngqithi believes it will not be an easy match for them. The new look Babina Noko led by Kaitano Tembo poses a huge threat.

“They have not started very well this season, they’ve played very well, but unfortunately, in their last match, they could have easily scored more than five goals. It’s people we cannot take for granted, people working hard,” Manqoba Mgqithi told the club media.

“I think they are strong on set pieces, their crossing game with [Tshepo] Mokhabi on the left, [Thamsanqa] Masiya on the right. Very quick and very good delivery, and they also have [Roderick] Kabwe on the left who is also very good with the delivery of setpieces.”

“The central midfielders of [Linda] Mntambo and [Glen] Motsepe are very solid in making life very difficult for everyone. The back four with [Edwin] Gyimah and [Daniel] Cardoso inside and Nyiko Mobbie makes it a very powerful team to deal with. We know very well that we are playing against a very good team that is very offensive as well.”

“They’ve employed the services of some of the best strikers in the country in [Victor] Letsoalo, [Tshegofatso] Mabaso, and unfortunately [Tashreeq] Morris is suspended for this match. It’s a little bit of a banana skin that needs us to tread very carefully because they are a very formidable side.”

Masandawana will be aiming to make it two-out-of-two after outsmarting Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 last weekend. Kickoff at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium is at 3pm.
