Brandon Truter on how his Sekhukhune United is different from Kaitano Tembo’s

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has spelt out the difference between his team and his predecessor Kaitano Tembo’s.

In 12 games, Tembo was only able to pick up two wins in the first round of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

With the club perched at position 15, Tembo was shown the exit door, making way for Truter.

After three fixtures, Truter has guided Sekhukhune to two wins, matching Tembo’s record and adding a draw.

The seven points his charges have collected have seen Babina Noko move to 10th position, five points ahead of bottom-placed Marumo Gallants.

Truter has since explained what the difference has been since he came into the Babina Noko hot seat.

BRANDON TRUTER EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENCE

“It’s not the same team you saw before the break. It’s a team full of confidence, good spirit and good atmosphere,” Truter told the media after his team’s 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

A spirited Sekhukhune side visited Chiefs at FNB and spoilt their 53rd-anniversary celebrations.

The win over one of South Africa’s biggest teams will likely come as a boost for Truter’s charges.

Truter says Sekhukhune are totally different now

The former Swallows and AmaZulu coach added it was all down to a talented group of players who are “humble and receptive to new ideas”.

“The players here are very receptive. At one time in South Africa, you had big egos to manage as well. When that part drains you, the training and tactics are affected,” he explained.

Known to be an ardent Christian, Truter said it helped that his dressing room was full of believers.

“The atmosphere and the spirit is good. There are a lot of believers in the team. All glory to God,” he said.

He further explained that they caught Chiefs in the trap and had to manage the game well to see out the victory.

“I will preach patience to the supporters, not just Sekhukhune supporters, but South African supporters. One loss, and the coach is fired. At times the [club] owners take a cue from there,” he concluded.
