Monare on how Riveiro simplifies things at Pirates

"He makes us work in tasks whereby it's like a puzzle."

Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare has explained how coach Jose Riveiro simplifies things within his squad.

Thabang Monare reflected on how the Spanish tactician Jose Riveiro gels well with the Pirates players. The former Bidvest Wits maestro also praised the DStv Premiership giants’ recent gameplay.

Pirates have now won four of their last five matches in all competitions, a sign of how Riveiro is slowly getting things right at the Soweto giants.

But, for the 44-year-old mentor, it seems like there is still a lot more to play for this season, with the Nedbank Cup up for grabs and a CAF Champions League spot

HOW JOSE RIVEIRO GETS THINGS DONE AT PIRATES

“Well, it’s not like I’m disclosing anything, but you know what he does is to make us to see things in a more easy way if I may put it that way,” Monare told the media after the Nedbank Cup round of 16 draw.

“He makes us work in tasks whereby it’s like a puzzle.

“We are pieces of the a puzzle. So, when those pieces are complete, we become a bigger picture.

“For example, he will tell us what midfielders and defenders should do. The same thing applies to the defenders, goalkeepers and strikers. So, it’s like pieces of puzzles; when they come together, they bring out a beautiful picture.”

JOSE RIVEIRO UNDERSTANDS HIS PLAYERS

Monare divulged that the trick Riveiro uses of understanding his troops individually works to his advantage.

“He understands us and he knows how to speak to us as individuals in certain ways,” he added.

“So, I think that is the trick he brings within the squad. He understands us well before being a good coach.

“And his approach works perfectly as he knows we come from different backgrounds.”

With all being said, the Sea Robbers were drawn against Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy [VFA] in the Nedbank Cup last 16.

Pirates booked their last 16 spot after defeating All Stars 2-0 this past weekend at the Wits Football Stadium.

Whereas, VFA got the better of ABC Motsepe League outfit FC Black Cross 2-1 to progress to the round of 16.
