The Kaizer Chiefs star Themba Zwane rates highly

Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Themba Zwane has picked the one Kaizer Chiefs star he rates highly.

The talented winger, Zwane has singled out Amakhosi’s Nkosingiphile Ngcobo as one of the best players with the ability take Bafana Bafana to greater heights in the future.

The Bafana Bafana international, Zwane has described Chiefs’ midfield maestro Ngcobo as a “brilliant player”.

Zwane strongly believes Ngcobo along with Sphelele Mkhulise and Neo Maema can take Bafana to the next level.

Ngcobo has impressed since joining Amakhosi’s first team in the 2017/2018 season as he rose through the ranks to become a key member of the Glamour Boys’ squad.

So far in the current campaign, he has played 12 games across all competitions for the Soweto giants.

‘Mshishi’, as he is popularly known within the football cycles, hailed the impact made by Ngcobo, 23, in the middle of the park in Chiefs colours this season.

In the 2020/21 season, Ngcobo, a fans’ favourite, played a vital role when Chiefs reached the CAF Champions League, featuring in 40 games in all competitions.

THEMBA ZWANE ON NKOSINGIPHILE NGCOBO

“We definitely do have players that can carry on with the Bafana Bafana legacy. We have players like Mkhulise [Sphelele], Neo Maema and even this young boy from Kaizer Chiefs who wears jersey number 12 [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo], he is a top player,” said Zwane.

“I believe players like him [Ngcobo] can take the national team to another level.”

Zwane also touched on the issue of Bafana needing the experience of players plying their trade abroad in the squad to reach the promised land.

“Currently, I won’t say much but we need players that are playing overseas to be involved because of the level that they use abroad and the current players we need to push ourselves in order for us to compete,” he added.

“And also, we need to have more teams in the CAF Champions League. If you look at Morocco [at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar], some of their players we played with them in the Champions League.

“Therefore, we need to play in the Champions league so we can get used to playing at that high level.”
