What led to Sibusiso Vilakazi’s departure at TS Galaxy

"It's better to play with players that put a lot of effort, a lot right attitude and great lifestyle."

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has revealed why the club opted to part ways with highly-rated midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Vilakazi made headlines when he joined The Rockets as a free agent ahead of the current DStv Premiership season after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns expired.

However, his stay at the Mpumalanga-based outfit only lasted six months. And during his stint at the club, Vilakazi made 10 appearances in the league.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star left Galaxy without scoring a goal or registering an assist and never played a full 90 minutes game.

He evidently fell out of favour at Galaxy under Ramovic, who has explained why he was not much of a Vilakazi fan.

RAMOVIC ON WHAT WENT WRONG WITH VILAKAZI

“Fantastic player, fantastic name and a great career, but me as a coach I don’t care about age, I don’t care about names. I just look at the face that I see in the field,” Ramovic told the media at the PSL headquarters.

“If we have players on the field that give everyday 100% at training, put a lot of effort, these players will play. The players that don’t look better everyday will have a difficult time of course.

“It’s better to play with players that put a lot of effort, a lot right attitude and great lifestyle. I was a player, l know if l don’t train well, l won’t play well, that’s my experience.

WHY VILAKAZI WAS OVERLOOKED

Ramovic further revealed why he had to overlook Vilakazi most of the times when selecting his starting eleven.

“Every coach tries to pick out the best eleven because we all want to win games. I will really not be smart enough if I just put a player in the field that didn’t show me the whole week that he would want to play,” he added.

“How big is the chance if you don’t train well that suddenly you’ll play well? I think it’s a small chance.

Vilakazi is a free agent as he remains without a team. But the former Bafana Bafana international has been linked with a move to Royal AM.
