Lavish Europe trip costs TS Galaxy Janu-worry salaries

“Sadly, Tim Sukazi [club president] has decided not to address us on the issue."

TS Galaxy’s lavish Europe trip has left the club in dire straits, with players and staff owed outstanding salaries.

The DStv Premiership side embarked on a 20-day trip to Turkey last year. They faced Italy’s Sampdoria, Al Batin of Saudi Arabia and Turkey’s Giresunspor.

The funds used for the trip were partly taken from players, each contributing 10 percent of their salary.

TS GALAXY PURCHASE STATUS

The club’s hierarchy had reportedly proposed to take 20%, which was frowned upon by players, eventually settling for a ‘tithe’.

Now, some players, supporting staff and some technical team members are yet to receive their January salaries. This comes barely a month after the club bought top-flight status for a ladies’ side.

TS Galaxy Queens, formerly in the Sasol League, are participating in the Hollywoodbets Super League after purchasing the status of Vasco Da Gama.

After purchasing the Super League slot, the club unveiled several marquee signings, including Mpumi Nyandeni, Nothando Vilakazi and ‘Lipstick Lady’ Nomvula Kgoale.

“Some of us were not back paid our two months’ salaries. We’re owed from last year in January and February,” a senior player told FARPost.

RENTALS NOT PAID

“Sadly, Tim Sukazi [club president] has decided not to address us on the issue. We get paid on the 28th or 29th, and it’s almost two weeks after payday, and we’re in the dark.

“Some players’ rentals the club should pay aren’t paid.”

After the Golden Arrows game, which TS Galaxy won 4-0 on Sunday, January 29 2023, the club paid those that featured in the game.

Given Msimango, Pogiso Sanoka, Tshegofatso Nyama, Marks Munyai, Mlungisi Mbunjana, Bernard Parker, Djakaridja Junior Traore, Xola Mlambo, Melusi Buthelezi, Lifa Hlongwane and Orebotse Mongae.

The likes of Vuyo Mere, Macbeth Mahlangu, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Lebone Seema, Wenstern Van Der Linde, Masilake Phohlongo and Nkosikhona Radebe were not paid.

FARPost’s efforts to get a comment were fruitless, as Sukazi did not answer his phone several times.

The TS Galaxy boss also did not respond to questions sent to him via WhatsApp.
