What Pitso Mosimane intends to do for Khaya Shozi

Saddened by the mental state of former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker, Pitso Mosimane has revealed what he intends to do to help Khaya Shozi get back on his feet.

The once-promising midfielder was spotted roaming the streets of Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng like a homeless person.

In recent weeks, Shozi trended on social media after a fan came across him and took a picture with the 28-year-old.

According to reports, Shozi took a turn for the worst about two years ago following his departure from DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy.

At some point, he appeared to be back on track, training on his own in 2022. But he went off the rails once again.

It is unclear what led him astray, with many suggesting that Shozi’s destitute state is due to several issues, such as emotional breakdown, witchcraft, and depression.

Mosimane, who stated that Shozi came through Sundowns’ youth ranks along with Percy Tau, also insinuated that the player’s issue might be mental health related.

Shozi was part of the Sundowns’ first team under the guidance of Mosimane in the 2015/16 season.

Mosimane has committed to helping his former player through his soccer schools programme.

He said the only thing he can do to assist Shozi is to give him a job as a coach at the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools.

HOW PITSO MOSIMANE PLANS TO HELP KHAYA SHOZI

“The Khaya Shozi’s story, I saw it on social media, I was really surprised to be honest, how can a person deteriorate so quickly? I mean he is a youngster and can still play. He is not even over 30, Mosimane during the Nedbank Cup event at Konka, Soweto.

“So the only thing I can do to help Khaya is to give him an opportunity to be part of the schools’ programme.

“I don’t know if he wants to coach, but if he wants to be a coach, he can come there. He is welcome.

“He has to go through, do the SAFA D License because we have a good relationship with the technical director of SAFA, Walter Steenbok, who is doing a very good job.

“Khaya can come to our programme, we will train him as a coach, and we will put him as a coach. And he can start his life, earn a living in our programme, and earn a salary as a coach.

“That’s all we can do for Khaya. But the other staff, I can’t do; I’m not academically qualified to turn him around. Maybe you guys can recommend a psychologist.

“I think it is depression, I don’t know what is happening,” added the Al-Ahli Saudi head coach Mosimane.

Shozi was previously admitted to a psychiatric hospital by his family. It is evident that it didn’t work with the player currently back with his family in KwaZulu-Natal.
