Why Rhulani Manzini chose to join Magesi FC

Veteran striker Rhulani Manzini has explained why he chose to join Motsepe Foundation Championship log leaders Magesi FC.

The 36-year-old frontman has been without a club since parting ways with Venda FC in July 2023.

Manzini said that when his contract expired at Venda FC, he opted not to renew it as he was set for a new challenge.

During the January transfer window period, Manzini signed for Magesi with the aim of helping the Limpopo club secure automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.

He also represented teams such as Jomo Cosmos, Sivutsa Stars, Witbank Spurs, Platinum Stars, AmaZulu FC, Chippa United, to mention a few.

THE REAL REASON WHY RHULANI MANZINI JOINED MAGESI FC

The well-traveled forward revealed that his relationship with coach Clinton Larsen is one of the reasons he joined the side, and also emphasised that God wanted him at Magesi because one can never go wrong with God’s timing.

“I spoke to the coach, actually. You know I worked with him before. His leadership, wisdom and the way he created the atmosphere within the team is great,” Manzini told FARPost.

“The winning mentality he has created in the team is on another level. So, he is a great person to work with, including the entire technical team and the players.

“I also think God wanted me here in Polokwane, and it happened at the right time. So, I believe that God is doing something, as I did have a team but decided to leave with the instructions of God because I didn’t renew my contract where I was.”

‘I HAVE NEVER HAD DOUBTS IN MYSELF’

Manzini said that he never doubted his capabilities as he feels he has a lot to offer.

The talented goalscorer showed that experience cannot be bought last weekend when he found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game when Magesi defeated AmaTuks with a 1-0 scoreline to consolidate their top spot.

Overall, Manzini has scored two goals since he arrived at the club. He scored both goals, coming in as a substitute.

“I have never had doubts in myself because I take care of my body and eat well,” he added. “I train on my own as well to keep fit. So, that was never a problem as I do extra training sessions.

“It also goes down to collective efforts from the coaches and players. So, I’m just grafted in there to help the team. Even when I spoke to the coach before I came here to help, that’s what I’m doing.”
