AmaZulu make big decision on Romain Folz

AmaZulu FC have made a decision on the future of their head coach Romain Folz following a 1-0 defeat to Swallows in a DStv Premiership match on Saturday.

This publication understands that Usuthu had a meeting with the 32-year-old tactician on Monday. This follows the poor performances and failure to pick up desired results lately.

AMAZULU MAKE DECISION ON ROMAIN FOLZ

FARPost has been reliably informed that Folz has been put on special leave with immediate effect.

This decision was mainly triggered by the defeat to the Dube Birds, where the French-Moroccan failed to turn things around.

This left the fans fuming, demanding instant changes in the technical team. Meanwhile, according to players who elected to remain anonymous, there was no player-coach connection between Folz and his charges in the dressing room.

It went on to reflect on the field as the players didn’t have a play-for-the-coach spirit.

‘Fohloza’ has overseen 19 games at AmaZulu in which he only won four, drew nine and lost six in all competitions.

He joined Usuthu in October after he parted ways with Marumo Gallants. Explaining his departure, he said he tendered his resignation to the Bahlabana Ba Ntwa after the club’s management interfered with his coaching job.

In the six matches he was in charge of at the Limpopo outfit, he drew five times and lost once.

THREE-YEAR DEAL FOR THE FRENCH-MOROCCAN

It should be recalled that in February, Folz signed a three-year deal with the KZN side, which was set to start next season.

It left many questioning the club’s decision considering their unstable performances since the former Township Rollers mentor took the reins.

The club was finding it hard to reverse their decision because they would have to pay a fortune to Folz. However, with the results not coming and fans promising to strike, they’ve had to take a decision.
