How Dondol Stars plan to avoid stage fright against Pirates

Dondol Stars co-coach Vincent Rammoni has revealed how they plan to get rid of stage fright when they take on Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

The ABC Motsepe league side was drawn against the Buccaneers in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals. The game will be played on Saturday, April 15, at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Dondol Stars is the only team that is not competing in the PSL, which has managed to remain afloat in the tourney.

And having established themselves as giant slayers in the cup competition, they are hoping to continue with their unforgettable run.

Ahead of the quarterfinals, they beat DStv Premiership teams; SuperSport United 2-1 before eliminating AmaZulu side 5-4 on penalties after a 120-minute 1-1 stalemate.

Co-coach Vincent Rammoni said they are not reading much into Orlando Pirates’ history and stature.

“Our players are also human beings, but they know that in football, we don’t hope,” he said.

“We prepare. That is the one thing that we’ve been doing, to prepare. We want to prepare for Orlando Pirates with respect like we did with the previous teams.

“It’s the same with all the teams that we’ve played against in the process to get to where we are.

“And then in the league, so on stage fright unfortunately nobody has total control over other people and other peoples behavior or feelings.

“But then we’re going to try and help them to be in the right state of mind and fully focus on the game.

“We need to forget that we are playing Pirates or anybody but try to get everything that we want our team to have. It’s all about trying to get those little things right,” added Rammoni.
