Royal AM coach Abram Nteo insists the unusual weather could have played a role during their 2-0 defeat by Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
Chiefs bounced back to their winning ways following an impressive display at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. In the process, Royal AM have not won in their past three matches, having drawn against Chippa in their last match and lost to Maritzburg United.
The KwaZulu-Natal missed some clear-cut chances that could have seen them steal Maximum points, but Chiefs dominated proceedings.
The rain started to pour in the middle of the first half, and Nteo believes the subsequent wind also played a part in destroying them.
TOO MUCH WIND AT PETER MOKABA STADIUM?
“Yes, you could see that in the second half, we could not even play the way we used to play,” he told journalists after the match.
“When we played the long ones, the ball came back very quickly. So you could see that the wind played a major role in terms of how we played as a team.
“We lost some balls, and you could see that our boys tried to put the ball down, but whenever they put the ball, then Chiefs would put pressure,” he said.
“But honestly speaking, the second half was not a good performance from our club.”
ABRAM NTEO CONCEDED KAIZER CHIEFS WERE BETTER
“From the first minute when we started the game, you could see that they put us under pressure because they wanted to get the goal earlier. We tried to play our normal game, but the first 15 minutes were not good.
“But look at the overall performance of the club. We didn’t play well. Especially in the second half. You could see that Kaizer Chiefs were coming, and they wanted to get a goal. So yes, not a good performance from the club, but we will rectify it.”
